Upon a motion by Mr. Harrington, second by Mr. Allgood, the Board approved
the Early County Literacy Task Force as a Participant in the Certified
Literate Community Program.
BUDGET,
FACILITIES, AND TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE
I. Approval
of Final Plans
Upon
a motion by Mr. Harrington, second by Mr. Lord, the Board approved the
final plans and specifications for Project No. DTAE-110, Telecommunication
Center, East Central Technical College, prepared by Cooper Carry, Atlanta,
GA, dated December 5, 2002. Estimated cost of construction is $8,500,000.00.
II. Transfer
of Real Property
Upon a motion by Mr. Harrington, second by Mr. Bowen, the Board approved
the transfer of 14,426 sq. ft./0.331 acre of land on the Paulding County
campus of Chattahoochee Technical College to the Georgia Department
of
Transportation, by Executive Order of the Governor, for use in expanding
the
right-of-way of Ga. Hwy 61 at its intersection with U.S. Hwy 278, for
construction of a bike trail by PATH Foundation, Inc., subject to approval
of
the State Properties Commissioner.

Purchases and Contracts
A. Upon a motion
by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Harrington, the Board approved to authorize
the Commissioner to purchase for Appalachian Technical College the Phase
II Network Infrastructure Upgrade at a total cost not to exceed $55,000.00.
B. Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Allgood, the Board approved
to authorize the Commissioner to purchase for Central Georgia Technical
College 65 Dell OptiPlex computers with monitors for the CIS program
labs at the Macon and Milledgeville campuses at a total cost not to
exceed $99,905.00.
C. Upon a motion
by Mr. Tallent, second by Ms. Douglas, the Board approved to authorize
the Commissioner to purchase for Chattahoochee Technical College Cisco
Networking Academy Program Lab equipment for the CISCO, CCNP and CCNA
programs at a total cost not to exceed $58,750.00.
D. Upon a motion
by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Allgood, the Board approved to authorize
the Commissioner to purchase for Flint River Technical College an Image
Setter and Software for the Printing and Graphics Technology program
at a total cost not to exceed $40,100.00.
E. Upon a motion
by Mr. Tallent, second by Ms. Douglas, the Board approved to authorize
the Commissioner to purchase for Griffin Technical College furniture
and equipment for the Cafeteria, Library, Administrative and Faculty
offices at a total cost not to exceed $675,000.00.
F. Upon a motion
by Mr. Tallent, second by Ms. Douglas, the Board approved to authorize
the Commissioner to purchase for Savannah Technical College instructional
equipment for Auto Collision Repair program and cleaning equipment for
the Crossroads Technology Center at a total cost not to exceed $120,550.00.
G. Upon a motion
by Mr. Tallent, second by Ms. Douglas, the Board approved to authorize
the Commissioner to purchase for South Georgia Technical College a Programmable
Controller Lab for the Industrial Electrical Technology program at a
total cost not to exceed $55,000.00.
