Call to Order
Pursuant to the date, time and place stated above, Vice Chairman Roy Bowen called the meeting to order at 9:03 a.m. With a quorum determined, Mr. Bowen welcomed everyone and expressed his thanks to those members interrupting their schedules to participate by wire.
Approval of Minutes
Upon a motion by Mr. Silverman and second by Mr. Tallent, the Board approved the minutes of the June 1, 2000 meeting.
Recommendation of the Executive Board
Upon a recommendation from the Executive Committee requesting name changes for the Technical Institutes to Technical Colleges that were reviewed at the June 7 meeting, Mr. Bowen attained a motion to accept the recommendation of the Executive Committee. Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by the entire Board present, the motion passed. (name changes are listed below)
Jackie Rohosky briefed the Board members with a packet and information regarding the different ceremonies with the Governor and Lt. Governor's participation regarding the name changes.

APPEALS COMMITTEE
Upon a motion by Mr. Silverman, second by Mr. Lord, the Board approved to accept the proposed revisions to State Board Policy No. 03-06-09 and Policy No. 03-06-10, concerning tenured and non-tenured employees, to lie on the table until the next regularly scheduled Board meeting.
BUDGET, FACILITIES AND TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE
Approval of Contracts
Upon a motion by Mr. Silverman, second by Mr. Lord, the Board authorized the Commissioner to enter into a construction contract with Sammy Garrison Company for ADA Restroom Upgrades at Middle Georgia Technical College. The amount of the contract is $84,656.00.
Upon a motion by Mr. Silverman, second by Mr. Lord, the Board authorized the Commissioner to enter into a construction contract with Mobley Construction Company for ADA Improvements at Augusta Technical College. The amount of the contract is $73,400.00.
Upon a motion by Mr. Silverman, second by Mr. Lord, the Board authorized the Commissioner to enter into a construction contract with Charles H. Wilkinson for Renovations and Additions at Ogeechee Technical College. The amount of the contract is $101,177.00.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
Results Magazine
Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Silverman, the Board authorized the Commissioner to enter into contracts to publish Results magazine in an amount not to exceed $47,000.00.

Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Jones, the Board approved the Commissioner be authorized to purchase for Albany Technical College an Electricity & Electronic Training Lab for hands-on study of technical topic from DC Fundamentals to Digital Logic, upgrade campus network from Token Ring to Ethernet and to upgrade from Ananlog to Digital Copiers for the Digital Graphics and Printing Technology program at a total cost not to exceed $1,502,250.00.
Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Jones, the Board approved the Commissioner be authorized to purchase for North Georgia Technical Institute an Engine Analyzer for the Automotive Technology program, Hydraulic press for the Machine Tool Technology program, tool sets and boxes for the Marine Engine and Automotive Technology program, and equipment for the Allied Health programs housed at the Rubye Franklin Building at a total cost not to exceed $961,500.00.
Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Jones, the Board approved that West Georgia Technical College revise their current mission statement.
Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Jones, the Board approved that the Commissioner be authorized to enter into a contract for FY2001 services from the University of Georgia in Athens at a total cost not to exceed $183,600.00.

Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Jones, the Board approved the persons listed below to be appointed/re-appointed to the local board of directors of the technical colleges and institutes. The effective date will be July 6, 2000 and the expiration date will be June 30, 2003.

Mr. Bowen recognized Mr. Jones from the floor. Mr. Jones stated that the minutes should reflect the name changes in the schools. Mr. Bowen asked that this be recorded in the minutes.
