Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs Council
Updated: October 19, 2011
Council

The Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs Council (VPAAC) is an organization of the Vice Presidents of Instruction of the Georgia Technical Colleges. The VPAAC provides a forum for Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs and the Department of Technical and Adult Education (DTAE) staff to affect and direct the future of academic efforts in Georgia’s System if Technical Colleges.

The VPAAC meetings are held on a regular basis. They usually are planned two days and the meetings generally take place at a Georgia Technical College. Agenda topics include, but are not limited to, instructional technology, distance learning initiatives, accreditation issues, joint efforts with high schools and/or four year colleges, updates of program standards, and the Performance Accountability System (PAS). Presentations of best practices and guest speakers are also a part of the VPAAC meetings.

A Chairperson of the VPAAC presides at the meetings. The Chairperson is elected from the membership of the VPAAC to serve a two-year term as Vice Chairperson and then a two-year term as Chairperson. The Vice-Chairperson records and distributes the minutes of the meetings and serves as Chairperson in the absence of the sitting chair. There is an Executive Committee of the VPAAC, consisting of the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and a representative from each of the six consortia. The Executive Committee meets approximately one month prior to the VPAAC meeting to plan the agenda for the VPISC meeting.
