Rural Enrollment Strategies One of the obstacles facing adult literacyinstructors, especially those in rural areas, is increasing and maintaining student enrollment. It is difficult to address the problem of low student enrollment without addressing student recruitment first. One of the best forms of recruiting is "word of mouth." If only a few satisfied "customers" tell others of their positive experiences with an adult literacy program, others will become more interested. However, what does one do until the masses of students flood the hollowed doors of adult education?
