Welcome to the Fall edition of Perspectives, the quarterly newsletter produced by the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education, Office of Adult Literacy. You may have noticed already that this version of our newsletter is somewhat different from previous editions. For FY99, a new approach to the newsletter introduces a new theme and a new look for each issue. The Fall issue focuses on Instruction and the dynamic adult literacy teachers in the field have been asked to share some of their favorite ideas, anecdotes and most importantly teaching strategies.

The pages within this newsletter include submissions from each of the six consortium areas. Although this office received an overwhelming number of submissions, not all of them could be reprinted in this issue of the newsletter. It is the plan of the Office of Adult Literacy to present additional instructional strategies at a later time in another medium. In upcoming issues of Perspectives, topics will include: Workplace Literacy Programs, Focus on Adult Students, and the Future of Adult Learning. Our newsletter, staff, as well as the adult literacy community are all growing. We welcome your continued support as we enter a new era in adult literacy.
