Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Lord, the Board approved that the persons listed below be appointed/re-appointed to the local board of directors for the technical college listed.

Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Allgood, the Board approved for the technical schools below, that the names listed be placed on the Board table until the November meeting for consideration of approval of appointment/reappointment to the local board of directors of the technical college.

Equipment Purchases and Contracts
Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Allgood, the Board approved to authorize the Commissioner to purchase for Atlanta Technical College a campus information system including software, eight 25" commercial televisions, and electronic Kiosk for installation throughout the campus at a total cost not to exceed $30,000.00.
Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Lord, the Board approved to authorize the Commissioner to purchase for Augusta Technical College instructional equipment for the Air Frame and Power Mechanics instructional program (main campus) for repair and maintenance training at a total cost not to exceed $137,000.00.
Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Allgood, the Board approved to authorize the to Commissioner to purchase for Coosa Valley Technical College replacement equipment for the Floyd County campus audio/visual system in the auditorium at a total cost not to exceed $29,039.00.
Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Lord, the Board approved to authorize the Commissioner to purchase for DeKalb Technical College Polycom Videoconferencing equipment for the Clarkston and Covington campuses; and the Economic Development and Montreal Road centers at a total cost not to exceed $32,930.00.
Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Lord, the Board approved to authorize the Commissioner to purchase for Griffin Technical College instructional equipment for the Automotive Technology, Computer Information Systems, Welding and Industrial Maintenance Technology programs for the Jasper County Workforce Development Center at a total cost not to exceed $231,228.00.
Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Allgood, the Board approved to authorize the Commissioner to purchase for Savannah Technical College an I-SIM/Eaton Transmission Simulator for the Commercial Truck Driving program and an annual advertising contract for television advertising through the local cable system at a total cost not to exceed $112,000.00.
Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Lord, the Board approved to authorize the Commissioner to purchase for West Central Technical College instructional equipment for the Dental Assisting program for the Central Educational Center in Newnan at a total cost not to exceed $30,286.00.
Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Allgood, the Board approved to authorize the Commissioner to conduct Case Management Training for the Georgia Fatherhood Program, providing staff with specific knowledge and skills to help them produce positive outcomes for program participants. The training will consist of two phases at a total cost not to exceed $96,264.00.
Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Lord, the Board approved to authorize the Commissioner to enter into a contractual agreement with the University of Georgia, on behalf of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, to continue its collaborative effort in providing research and development focused on critical issues in postsecondary technical education in Georgia at a total cost not to exceed $197,826.00.
Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Lord, the Board approved to authorize the Commissioner to enter into a contractual agreement with the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, to incorporate two additional data sets into the Multi-Agency Linked Student Database a total cost of School to Work grants fund not to exceed $120,000.00 over a two year period - $70,000.00 in FY 2002 and $50,000.00 in FY 2003.
Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Lord, the Board approved to authorize the Commissioner to enter into a contractual agreement with the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, to extend the work of Performance Assessment for College and Technical Schools (PACTS) by providing professional development to high school, technical college, two-year college and university faculty in teaching in a standards-based environment and also pilot test the career passport at a total amount of School to Work grant funds not to exceed $399,900.00 over a three year period - $92,200.00 in FY 2002; $146,100.00 in FY 2003; and $161,600.00 in FY 2004.
Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Lord, the Board approved to authorize the Commissioner to enter into a contractual agreement with School and Main Institute, Inc. to provide technical assistance to local, regional, state School to Work partnerships at a total amount of School to Work grant funds not to exceed $149,600.00.
Upon a motion by Mr. Tallent, second by Mr. Lord, the Board approved to authorize the reimbursement of all tuition and fees paid by students who are required to withdraw from courses as a result of being called into active duty or relocated in response to current or future national emergencies. The Commissioner is authorized and empowered to take any and all such other action, as in the judgment of the Commissioner, may be necessary, proper, or required in connection with the current military emergency. All such action shall be communicated to the State Board.

STANDARDS
1. Approval of Curriculum Standards Revisions
Upon a motion by Mr. Lord, second by Mr. Allgood, the Board approved the proposed revisions of the Forest Technology, Diploma Program Standards as recommended by the Presidents Council. Colleges may implement the revisions immediately and must implement them by Fall Quarter 2002.
Upon a motion by Mr. Lord, second by Mr. Reynolds, the Board approved the proposed revisions to the General Program standard on Employability Skills.
