Annually, our system announces the initiatives we consider to be of such significance that their progress should be monitored closely and measured quarterly. These are chosen from pilot projects that have developed from research, most often done in response to the needs of the business and industry we serve.

Industry-Certified Information Technology
Building information technology certifications — such as Microsoft, Cisco and Novell — into Computer Information Systems and Business and Office Technology programs.

High School/Technical College Collaboratives
Giving high school students a chance to complete high school requirements, gain real-world experience, and earn credits to apply to technical college programs.

Human Resources Development Outsourcing
Meeting all of a company’s training needs through its local technical college.

Certified Literate Community Program
Making literacy a community-wide commitment.

Certified Training
Certified Manufacturing Specialist (CMS), Certified Customer Service Specialist (CCSS), and Certified Construction Worker (CCW) involve performance-based training in specific skills. IT+ enhances non-technical skills of information technology professionals.

Youth Development Opportunities
Technical colleges, in partnership with the Department of Juvenile Justice’s educational system, providing critical training for at-risk youth.

Virtual Technical College
Georgia Virtual Technical College (GVTC) uses advanced technology to deliver postsecondary instruction via the Internet.
