Job Description, Responsibilities, Standards, and Qualifications=

Job Description:
Designs, secures, implements, and maintains supported database management system(s) (DBMS) for the agency. Provides support to DBMS users, internal a= nd external to the agency. Responsible for up-to-date documentation and user training for supported DBMS systems. Assists in develop= ing, maintaining, and testing data backup, data recovery, and disaster recovery procedures for the supported DBMS applications and platforms.

Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:
1. Works with users to determine and develop specifications= for data driven applications.

2.= Ensures agency databases maintain proper security in compliance with= the information security plan for each application.

<= /o:p>

Installs each D= BMS in the required physical environment.

Assists end use= rs and other team members in proper access to each DBMS.

Monitors usage, storage and performance of existing DBMS to ensure efficient operation= .

Supports users = of the agency DBMS applications.

Provides intern= al and external documentation on the use and functionality of all supported D= BMS.

Provides traini= ng for agency personnel for the DBMS applications.

Assists with developing or review of DBMS physical data backup. <= /li>

Participates in periodic disaster recovery simulations to ensure data recovery plans w= ork.

Sample Technical Competencies:<= br>
1. Knowledge of the installation process for software applications and operating systems

2. Ability to provide technical support and assistance with hardware and/or software

3. Ability to research and design queries and reports

4. Knowledge of software applications

5. Ability to analyze user problems and recommend alternatives or solutions

6. Ability to maintain network users, directories and the security of the syste

Entry Qualifications:
One year certificate or degree from a college or training institution with specific courses in database concepts *and* two years experience working wi= th DBMS design, implementation and support using Oracle, Microsoft SGL, or oth= er industry standard DBMS *OR* four years experience working with DBMS design, implementation and support using Oracle, Microsoft SQL or other industry standard DBMS. Experience will include demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both oral and written, with internal and external users.

Preferred Qualifications:
(In addition to minimum qualifications) A Bachelor's Degree in a computer related field from a four year college or university; professional certification in network and opera= ting systems from a recognized accrediting association or vendor; vocational-technical or military training in a computer field. Vendor specific certifications including Oracle and Microsoft SQL. All course work a= nd certifications should include a concentration of database related topics. <= span class=3DGramE>Proficient in the use of Microsoft ® Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
