Position Announcement
Position:
Director of Financial Aid – Student Services
Job Summary:
Under minimal supervision, coordinates the financial assistance program
for a technical college; provides information to prospective and enrolled
students; coordinates the preparation and maintenance of active and inactive
financial aid program files and records; prepares and analyzes reports;
responsible for all financial aid awards; ensures compliance with all
state and federal financial aid policies, regulations and laws, responsible
for the administration of all private scholarships in compliance with
donor requirements; supervises subordinate employees; may perform recruitment
activities. The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for the operation
of all student financial aid programs and Veteran’s Affairs at Savannah
Technical College. Develops and maintains working relationships with staff
and outside contacts in the community. Supervises subordinate employees.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science
in Business Administration or related field required. Master’s
degree preferred.
- One year of administrative
experience in Student Services at a technical college or university
required.
- One year of supervisory
experience in Student Services at a technical college or university
preferred.
- Experience in
BANNER Financial Aid required.
- At least two years
work experience with financial aid forms and procedures.
- Knowledge of federal,
state and college rules and regulations, including financial aid regulations.
- Ability to work
cooperatively and positively with colleagues.
- Skill in records
maintenance and report preparation required.
- Skill in utilizing
Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Excellent written
and verbal communication skills required.
Physical Demands:
Work is typically performed while sitting at a desk, often using a computer.
Work also requires intermittent standing and walking in a variety of settings.
Must occasionally move objects of light to medium weight.
Duties and
Responsiblities:
- Coordinates the
financial assistance program available to enrolled students, including
scholarships, grants, work study programs, and student loans.
- Provides information
to technical college prospective and enrolled students concerning state
and federal financial assistance and technical college policy/procedures.
- Provides information

- Coordinates the
preparation and maintenance of all active and inactive financial aid
program files and other related student financial aid records.
- Prepares and analyzes
operational statistics, reports, or other data.
- Responsible for
the accountability of all financial aid awards.
- Develops and maintains
working relationships, communications and contacts with staff as well
as
other agencies, consultants, legislators, general public, etc. Promotes
good public relations.

- Displays a high
level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively
within the
organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible

- Assesses the enrollment
certification of Veterans.
Salary/Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with education and work experience in placement
on the state salary schedule. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual
and sick leave, retirement and the State of Georgia flexible benefits
package.
