Dr. Kenneth H. Breeden, Commissioner
Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education
1800 Century Place
Atlanta, Georgia

Dear Ken,

The results of the study we conducted on behalf of the Department of Technical and Adult Education have been completed and analyzed. As you know, we bring over thirty years of experience to the analysis of these results, and it is with pleasure that we report to you that these results are very good news, both for you and the citizens of Georgia.

The pages that follow contain the complete report; but allow us to highlight below the summary and economic impact of what we found as we studied students who completed technical education programs between July 1, 1987 and June 30, 1988 and projected these results forward.

Ten Year Follow-Up Study of Technical Institute Graduates
Major Findings
SummaryImpact of Entrepreneurs
23% started business

78% are still in business

65% are employed in Special Technical,
Supervisory, Advanced Technical or
Management Positions

80% still work in their field of training

73% have been promoted

96% were satisfied with their technical training

Virtually all seem to be progressing well professionally

Projecting similar results for graduates not
contacted, 1987-88 graduates would have
contributed approximately:

1,026 New Businesses in Georgia

4,208 Full-time Jobs To Georgia Economy

Projecting from the 1987-88 levels, the
conservative estimate is that DTAE graduates
through 1998 will account for:

Over 10,000 New Businesses

Over 42,000 Full-time Jobs

Congratulations on the outstanding results.

Yours truly,
