Once again, we have the pleasure of bringing you highlights of the results Georgia’s technical colleges are delivering across the state. Even though I am closely involved with all the programs and services showcased in this issue, seeing just this representative sample gathered together takes even me a little by surprise.
Our cover features a glimpse of a typical moment in a classroom in one of Georgia’s technical colleges: it’s hands-on, it’s guided by a trained and experienced professional, and the learning that’s taking place is replicated — in this instance, via technology — to other learners. I say with confidence that this is typical founded on the fact that our system has uniform curriculum standards and a warranty attached to our programs. And I have seen it for myself. This issue begins and ends with articles that focus on our partnerships. The first is on an important statewide event that included a national component — the National Skill Standards Board — and the final is from one of our presidents on the significance of local partnerships to the success of our technical colleges. Between these two articles you will find information technology, airplanes, race cars, Coweta County’s Central Educational Center, and more. The results represented by these programs and services all began as a response to local needs, rely on local and state support, and are helping to ensure Georgia’s future. I want to thank and congratulate the boards of directors, presidents and other administrators of each technical college and agency program and, most especially, each one of the dedicated instructors whose commitment and initiative make the results we see daily throughout our state possible and ongoing. Thank you and keep up the good work.
