Debbie DlugolenskiThe first quarter 132 students enrolled. Its popularity has been incredible, Debbie Dlugolenski, president of GVTC and Assistant Commissioner of Planning, Development and Technology says. “In winter quarter 2001, we had 4,035 students enrolled,” she says. “All of our campuses are participating in offering GVTC courses, or they are developing them.”

Dlugolenski says 29 programs are being offered, ranging from diplomas and certificates to associate degrees. GVTC frees students from having to attend classes or quitting jobs to go back to school. “Then, too, they have no child-care expenses,” she says. GVTC students must meet the same standards as on-campus students, she emphasizes. They must pass timed competency tests and proctored examinations at various colleges. “I think the phenomenal growth of GVTC will continue. It’s exciting because it’s accessible and affordable,” she says. white square
