    Georgia Companies Benefit from New Business Efforts
 
So far in fourth quarter 1999, 21 companies have announced plans to locate or expand in Georgia. Those announcements represent more than 1,500 new jobs in 14 communities: Albany, Alpharetta, Columbus, Covington, Cumming, Dalton, Eastman, Gainesville, Monroe, Oglethorpe, Rome, Thomson, Toccoa and Waynesboro. Quick Start is currently working with the following:
Remitco, Inc., headquartered in Newark, NJ, will open a center in Columbus to process remittance services. It will employ 350.

Blue Dot, a golf cart parts company, is expanding its Thomson operations to include an additional 25 jobs.

Weyerhaeuser, a producer of cellulose pulp, expanded operations in Oglethorpe, adding 35 new jobs.

Wal-Mart Stores opened a new distribution center in Monroe. The new facility will add 280 jobs to the area.
