Electronics Giant Salutes Quick Start’s Efforts
Quick Start recently helped celebrate the grand opening of a 370,000
square-foot facility in Suwanee for Solectron Corporation, a global
leader in electronics manufacturing services. In recognition of Quick
Start’s assistance with the plant’s set-up, Solectron presented Kenneth
Breeden, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult
Education, with a special award in recognition of DTAE’s support.
Solectron is the world’s premier supply-chain facilitator for customized electronics technology. It manufactures service solutions such as mobile phones, pagers, modems and fax machines. The company’s new Suwanee facility is a 50-acre campus with 11 surface-mount technology lines and 1,500 trained associates. Georgia’s Quick Start program has assisted the company in training employees for the new site.
Solectron is a two-time winner of the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award, the first company in the award’s 12-year history with such a distinction. QS
