Lighthouse
Institute 2005![]() The Lighthouse Institute provides an opportunity for outstanding technical education classroom teachers to be recognized and rewarded for excellence. The Lighthouse program is hosted by the Technical Education Committee of the Presidents' Council and has been an ongoing statewide event since 1996. Nearly 100 of Georgia’s technical college instructors attended the Lighthouse Institute for Excellence in Teaching. The 2005 Lighthouse Institute was held September 20-22 on St. Simons Island, Georgia. Special
guests at this year’s event included:
Michael L. Thurmond, J.D., Commissioner, Georgia
Department of Labor; Dr. Timothy S. Mescon,
partner in HA&W Mescon Group and Dean of
the School of Business at Kennesaw State University;
Dr. John E. Roueche, professor and director
of the Community College Leadership Program
at The University of Austin; Dr. George Baker
III, professor emeritus and interim director
of National Initiative for Leadership and Institutional
Effectiveness at North Carolina State University;
Mr. Randy Frazier, professional speaker at Frazier
Communications, Inc.; Deanna Latson, lecturer,
entertainer, and health educator for Good Thinking
Company; and Mr. Cory Thompson, news anchor,
and member of DeKalb Technical College’s
Board of Directors. |
