ACR 122 - Unibody Measuring and Fixturing Systems

Course Description

Provides instruction in a variety of alignment measuring and fixturing systems. Topics include: universal mechanical measuring system, universal laser measuring system, dedicated fixture system, upper body panel measurement, and English/metric tape alignment measurement.

Control points

Identify the four basic control points used in measuring frame damage.

 

 

 

Centering gauges

Demonstrate installing a set of four universal mechanical centering gauges and identify damage.

 

 

 

Measurements

Make diagonal measurements with Tram gauge and/or English/metric tape.

 

 

 

UNIVERSAL LASER MEASURING SYSTEM

Datum points

Identify datum measurements from a frame manual.

 

 

 

Master control bar

Demonstrate the use of a master control bar by centering, squaring, and leveling bar to the vehicle with attachments and Laser gun.

 

 

 

Measurements

Determine amount of damage by attaching two more control bars to damage and measuring with Laser gun and English/metric tape.

 

 

 

DEDICATED FIXTURE SYSTEM

Fixture locations

Duplicate location of fixtures on transverse beams of dedicated bench to mate with underbody control points of vehicle according to manufacturers specifications.

 

 

 

 

Identify four of the more common types of fixtures used on the bench.

 

 

 

Measurements

Analyze damage and explain how to match fixtures to control points.

Measurement systems

Specifications

Demonstrate the measuring process of the upper body panels and MacPherson Strut Systems using the different measuring systems and specification manuals available.

Demonstrate the ability to measure using the English or the metric system and convert from one system to the other.
