CIS 101 - Keyboarding

Course Description:

Provides an introduction to the effective and efficient use of electronic machine keyboards.  Topics include:  touch typing skills, and text formatting and manipulation.  Manual dexterity is developed using microcomputers and machine driven exercises.

TOUCH TYPING SKILLS

Alphabetic keyboard

Demonstrate keying of alphabetic data using the touch system.

 

 

 

Numeric and special character

Key data containing numbers and special characters.

 

 

 

Skill building and measurement

Demonstrate touch keying of data in a timed environment producing 20-30 gross words per minute with a reasonable degree of accuracy.

Key a business letter using correct format.

 

 

 

Memorandums

Key a memorandum using appropriate format.

Key a table demonstrating arrangement of columns, headings, and vertical and horizontal centering.
