CIS 2172 - DB2 Database Administration

 

Course Description

This course will provide database administrators with the specific skills and knowledge needed to be successful with DB2 Universal Database (UDB) database administration in a UNIX, Windows, or OS/2 environment. This course is intended for database administrators. Students should have a fundamental understanding of relational database technology, including concepts of databases, tables, rows/columns, data types, etc., prior to taking this course. Limited exposure to SQL is also assumed. Learners must have an understanding of the general database administrator role and function. This course will teach students the critical skills needed for designing a new DB2 implementation and maintaining an existing database. Included in this course are instructions on data management, DB2 catalog tables, and database utilities such as LOAD and REORG, and recovery considerations. It also provides significant hands-on exercises for many of the topics. Prepares student to take IBM Certification Tests 701, 731. Topics include: implement a new DB2 database or application and maintain an existing DB2 database.
