HISTORY OF FOREST PRODUCTS MANUFACTURING

Describe history, construction methods, and important uses of round timbers (e.g., poles, posts, pilings, lumber, veneer, and fiber).

 

 

 

RAW FOREST RESOURCE IDENTIFICATION

Raw resource utilization and identification

Describe how the raw resources of the forest are utilized.

 

 

 

 

Recognize pole timber (standing).

 

 

 

 

Describe the uses of lumber.

 

 

 

 

Tour forest product mills.

 

 

 

 

Recognize timber suitable for veneer.

 

 

 

 

Observe saw timber (including chip- and – saw).

 

 

 

 

Recognize wood suitable for pulpwood manufacture.
