Type of machine

Explain the various types of saws (cold saws, vertical and horizontal band saws, and power hacksaws).

Determine the type of saw to be used in cutting the workpiece to blueprint specifications.

Geometry of workpiece

Describe how the geometric shape of the workpiece affects the machine selection and workholding device.

Type of material to be cut

Explain how the type of material dictates the type of blade, pitch, and machine used in cut-off operations.
