RDG 095 – Reading I

Course Description

This course provides instruction for the development of reading with emphasis on practical reading skills for the adult learner. Topics include vocabulary and comprehension skills.

Word Meaning	Identify synonyms, antonyms, homophones, and homonyms.
Dictionary Use	Use dictionary guide words, pronunciation keys, and word entries to pronounce words, and understand their meanings.
Context Clues	Use context clues to determine word meanings.

Sentences	Recognize sentence meanings.
Paragraphs	Recognize paragraph topics and topic sentences.
Visual Aids	Read basic graphs, charts, tables, maps, and signs.
