TEL 107 – Cable Installation

Course Description

Introduces the basics of cable installation from the initial site survey to splicing cable and making connections.  Through extensive laboratory activities, students perform the basic tasks of a cable installer.  Topics include:  site survey, cable pulling, cable connections, cable splicing, and premise distribution systems.

Coaxial cable

Select appropriate connectors for mounting on coaxial cable.

 

 

 

Soldering

Solder coaxial cable to connectors.

 

 

 

Crimping

Attach connectors to coaxial cable using solderless methods.

 

 

 

Wrapping

Wrap a bundle of electrical wires and/or coaxial cables.

 

 

 

Stripping

Strip wires and coaxial cable for soldering and/or solderless mounting to connectors.
