Committees (IFCC)
Organization and Structure of
Committees
and
Statewide Meetings
There is an
Instructional Faculty Consortium Committee (IFCC) for each program area in each
consortium region, except program areas for which a statewide committee has
been authorized as a substitute. The full-time instructors from each college in
the consortium attend the Instructional Faculty Consortium Committee. Each IFCC will meet at least twice annually.
Each represented college will have one vote in the IFCC Meeting.
A. In
the instance where a program is offered at only one college within a
consortium, an instructor for the program will be the consortium chairperson
and therefore serve on the Executive Board of the IFCC.
B. In
the instance where only one college in the state offers a program, that
college’s instructor(s) will become the sole contributor to the Division of
Instructional Support Services, Office of Technical and Adult Education,
Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education (DTAE).
C. Each
Instructional Faculty Consortium Committee will formally organize, set meeting
dates, publish minutes, and make recommendations to the Executive Board of the
IFCC.
1.
The
chairperson will be elected by the IFCC for a two-year term. The responsibility of the chairperson will be
to chair the meetings and communicate consortium information to the Executive
Board and the Executive Board information to the consortium. The chairperson
shall also serve on the IFCC Executive Board.
2.
A
vice-chairperson will be elected by the IFCC for a two-year term. The responsibility of the vice-chairperson
will be to:
a.
assist
the chairperson,
b.
take
the official committee minutes,
c.
notify
the appropriate Curriculum Program Specialist of meetings for informational
purposes at least one month in advance if at all possible,
d.
send
the minutes electronically to the appropriate Curriculum Program Specialist,
and
e.
communicate
to other members of the committee.
D. The
Executive Board of the IFCCs will formally organize,
set meeting dates, call for Statewide Faculty Meetings, publish minutes, and
make recommendations to DTAE’s Division of
Instructional Support Services. The primary administrative support for the
Executive Board will be provided by DTAE’s Division
of Instructional Support Services
1. A
chairperson will be elected by the membership of the Executive Board
a. The
term of office for the chairperson will be two years.
b. The
responsibility of the chairperson will be to chair the meetings and communicate
with the Executive Board members and Division of Instructional Support Services.
2. A
vice-chairperson will be elected by the membership of the Executive Board.
a. The term of
office will be two years.
b. The
responsibility of the vice-chairperson will be to assist the chairperson, take
official minutes, communicate with other members of the Executive Board, and
send the minutes electronically to the appropriate Curriculum Program
Specialist.
E. The
IFCC will meet twice annually. The IFCC may meet quarterly, provided there is
sufficient agenda material to warrant a business meeting.
The Executive Board of the IFCCs may meet as often as
necessary.
1. Meetings
will be one-day meetings scheduled at a time least disruptive to the
educational process. The meeting may be held electronically.
2. All
committee members shall officially be notified of all meetings of Instructional
Faculty Consortium Committees at least one month in advance if at all possible.
3. All
Executive Board members shall be officially notified of all meetings of the
Executive Board at least one month in advance if at all possible.
F. The chairpersons will develop the agendas for
these meetings.
1. Identification
of the need for meetings and agenda issues may originate with peers,
subcommittees, the Executive Board, and/or DTAE’s Division
of Instructional Support Services. Agenda issues should focus on items
pertinent to the total operations of the program such as:
a. Standards
and Program Guides – development, implementation, and/or revision.
b. Professional
growth and development and technical training update for instructors.
c. Instructional
materials
d. Job
placement
e. Instructional
equipment
f. Technology
g. Recruitment/retention and public
relations
2. All
IFCC communications should be copied to the Chairperson of the Executive Board
and the appropriate Curriculum Program Specialist for informational purposes.
3. All
communications of the Executive Board should be copied to the appropriate
Curriculum Program Specialist at DTAE for informational purposes.
Statewide IFCC Executive Boards
Meeting
The joint
statewide meeting of the IFCC Executive Boards will take place annually on the
last Friday in October.
Statewide Faculty Meetings
Statewide
Faculty Meetings, if needed, are called by the Executive Board of a program
area’s Instructional Faculty Consortium
Committees and may be attended by all technical college
instructors.
Statewide
Faculty Meeting agendas are approved and published by DTAE.
DTAE has
set aside the first Friday in February and the second Friday before Memorial
Day in May as Statewide Faculty Meeting dates.
